Yonge-Eglinton residents' associations at Queen’s Park to save Midtown in Focus

Updated: Nov 7, 2019

Representatives from 11 Yonge-Eglinton area residents’ associations, including the Republic Residents’ Association, were at Queen’s Park on October 30 to pressure the provincial government to reconsider its recent decision to reject the Midtown in Focus plan as approved by the City of Toronto.

MPP Kathleen Wynne hosted the association reps and hand-delivered a letter

to Minister Steve Clark on their behalf, which urged the minister to meet with them to discuss Midtown in Focus. This was the second request to meet with the minister: the first request was made – and rejected – prior to the minister’s decision on OPA 405 in June 2019.

During their time in the Legislature, Minister Clark spoke to the representatives and committed to a meeting in the near future. We expect that the minister will accept our request to join us in Midtown Toronto, where he would experience first-hand the problems facing the community. Here is the letter that was presented to Minister Clark.
